W Series cancels 全民彩票 season due to pandemic

Plan to open for F1 grands prix is put off to next season

Motor racing's all-female W Series cancelled its 全民彩票 season on Thursday due to the COVID-19 pandemic but promised to return next year with at least two support races on the Formula One calendar. The series, which started last year, had been due to award points towards a Formula One superlicence for the first time. The cancellation will be a particular setback for Britain's inaugural champion Jamie Chadwick, who had hoped to defend her title and move a step closer to Formula One.

F1 says races will go on even if a driver tests positive for coronavirus

And the drivers and their teams will be living in 'bubbles'

Formula One races won't be canceled if a driver tests positive for the coronavirus or if a team withdraws, CEO Chase Carey says. F1 wants to avoid a repeat of the season opener in Australia in March, which was canceled when the McLaren team withdrew after a staff member tested positive for the virus. F1 teams have a tougher time returning to competition than teams in many other sports because of the dozens of people who usually travel to a race and the regular international journeys involved.

Double-header will kick off a season that could still be 15-18 races long

Formula One will finally get underway with back-to-back races at the Austrian Grand Prix in July as part of an eight-race European swing. The Red Bull Ring in Spielberg will host races on July 5 and 12, governing body FIA said in a statement on Tuesday. The next race will be in Hungary on July 19 followed by consecutive races at the British GP at Silverstone on Aug. 2 and 9 after the British government exempted elite sports from an upcoming quarantine on foreign visitors.

Renault staying in Formula One despite massive restructuring

This clears up some uncertainty for drivers vying for the open seat

Renault will stay in Formula One, interim Chief Executive Coltilde Delbos said on Friday after announcing the carmaker's restructuring measures including plans to cut 15,000 jobs worldwide. Renault's F1 future had been uncertain given the financial pressures on the French car giant and a slump in demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Renault finished fifth overall last season.

NASCAR champ Kyle Busch calls for mandatory masks as photos show race fans without

Common courtesy: 'Hey, you know, we can all take care of our neighbor'

Kyle Busch says he supports wearing a mask in public so “we all can take care of our neighbor" amid the coronavirus pandemic, a rare instance of the two-time NASCAR champion wading into a social issue. The reigning Cup champion rarely speaks on non-racing issues, but Busch entered the debate after images from short tracks over the weekend showed packed grandstands with little social distancing and few people wearing masks. Busch retweeted a photo from South Alabama Speedway in Ozark, Alabama,

Formula E driver disqualified for getting a ringer to race for him

Two other esports drivers suspected it and called him out

Audi Formula E driver Daniel Abt was disqualified and ordered to pay 10,000 euros ($10,900.00) to charity on Sunday for getting a professional gamer to compete under his name in an official esports race. Formula E's real life series leader Antonio Felix da Costa appeared less concerned, however.

He returns to action at Darlington Speedway

Ryan Newman says he has no memories of his harrowing accident on the final lap of the Daytona 500. The first thing Newman can recall is walking out of a Florida hospital holding hands with his two young daughters. “As I watched the crash and had to make myself believe what I had went through, I really looked to my dad to say, ‘Hey, did this really happen?’” Newman said Thursday.

Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari ending their frustrating relationship at F1 season's end

'There is no longer a common desire to stay together'

Sebastian Vettel may walk away from Ferrari having never delivered the Formula One title the proud Italian team so desperately wants. The 32-year-old German driver joined Ferrari in 2015 to replace Fernando Alonso, but was unable to add to his world titles at Red Bull from 2010-13. Now that is within reach of world champion Lewis Hamilton, who has six.

NASCAR's U-turn to racing raises flags of uncertainty, change

Things are going to be a lot different

NASCAR is back. On May 17, the roar of engines - albeit without the roar of the crowd - will return to a NASCAR Cup Series race track. "I don't know that right now there's many procedures that are business as usual, so to speak," Cliff Daniels, crew chief for seven-time Cup champion Jimmie Johnson, said.
